Windows XP end of life

Windows XP End of Life for SiteLink Web Edition™ Users.

SiteLink and Microsoft are at war with hackers defending your data and XP is vulnerable. One after another, the SSL cryptographic protocols available on Windows XP have been disabled due to vulnerabilities. Windows XP no longer has any secure protocols left.

At the end of 2015, SiteLink will no longer support Microsoft Windows XP operating systems. Microsoft ended support for the 13 year old XP operating system on April 8th, 2014. Following Microsoft’s end of support of the Windows XP operating system, those computers still using Windows XP no longer receive Microsoft security patches and vulnerable to system compromises. Without critical Windows XP security updates, your PC is vulnerable to harmful viruses, spyware and other malicious software which can steal or damage your business data. SiteLink users need to migrate to Windows 7 or Windows 8 to benefit from enhanced security.

Computers running Windows XP are not PCI compliant.

What is PCI compliance and how does this affect self storage facilities? “The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a set of requirements designed to ensure that ALL companies that process, store or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment. – PCI FAQ Website.” The PCI Securities Council has deemed that Windows XP is no longer PCI compliant because vulnerabilities in the operating system are no longer patched. If you process credit cards on a Windows XP machine, you are not PCI compliant and face additional fees from your credit card processor.

SiteLink is PCI Level 1 Certified. PCI Level 1 is the highest level of payment card industry security.

The SiteLink suite of products uses the best security and encryption available. This level of security requires installation of the component Microsoft .NET 4.5 Framework. Windows XP does not support .NET 4.5 Framework. SiteLink is unable to keep up with changing security requirements on Windows XP computers because they lack .NET 4.5 framework.
